Banana Scope by Banana Labs

Small changes.
Clear boundaries.

Banana Scope catches client change requests in your Slack and Discord project channels. It checks each one against the scope you agreed, breaks down and estimates the work, and sends your client an approval link once your project lead signs off.

Live, and in use with paying software businesses.

01 / The problem

The request is small.
The work behind it is not.

“Can we add online payments?” sounds like one button. In practice it brings refunds, failed payments, webhook security and database changes. Before the team builds it for free, someone has to check the request against what the client signed.

Then the client asks the next question: how much, and how long? Banana Scope answers both from the scope itself, inside the channel where the request arrived.

  • Protect your margin.

Bill for the small changes agencies often absorb because quoting them feels awkward.

  • Settle changes sooner.

Move from a client’s request to a signed change with fewer meetings, estimates and long emails.

  • Keep the relationship clear.

Contract clauses and a visible work breakdown replace arguments about what was agreed.

02 / How it works

From a client message
to an approved change.

Banana Scope works where your team already talks to clients, and hands approved work to the tools your developers use.

  1. 01

    Slack and Discord bot

    Catch it in the conversation.

Add the bot to the project channel you share with your client. As a ghost listener, it spots messages that read like a change, such as “while you’re at it”, “can we change the logic” or “add this integration”, and sends a private note only the project lead can see. Or react with  to any client message, and it reviews the whole thread.

  2. 02

    WBS and estimation

Break it down and price it.

Banana Scope checks the request against the agreed scope and cites the clause it falls outside of. It then breaks the work down across frontend, backend, database and QA. Your agency’s hourly rates and risk buffer turn those hours into a cost and a timeline impact.

  3. 03

    Client portal

    Get the client’s approval.

When the project lead approves the draft in Slack, Banana Scope creates a secure client portal link. The client sees their own request, the contract clause that does not cover it, the work breakdown, cost and timeline, and approves with one click. Approval can send a deposit invoice through your agency’s own Stripe or QuickBooks account.

  4. 04

    Living Scope and task sync

    Keep the scope current.

Each approved change is merged into the scope as a new version, for example from v1.0 to v1.1, and later checks use the updated scope. The work breakdown goes to Jira or Linear as issues tagged [Billable-CR] on the matching milestone.

End to end

  1. 1

The client asks for a change in Slack or Discord.

  2. 2

Banana Scope flags it and cites the scope clause.

  3. 3

The work is broken down into dev hours, cost and timeline impact.

  4. 4

The project lead approves in Slack, and the client gets a portal link.

  5. 5

The client approves, and a deposit invoice goes out from your Stripe account.

  6. 6

Tasks sync to Jira or Linear, and the scope moves to v1.1.

Outside the agreed scope

The agreed scope excludes online payments in S4, so this is new work to agree with the client before anyone builds it.

03 / Built on Claude

Claude reads.
People decide.

Banana Scope runs on the Claude API. Claude does the reading and the technical breakdown. Your project lead and your client make the decisions.

  1. Read

Reads client messages against the scope.

Claude reads the client’s message and its thread alongside the project scope your agency agreed.

  2. Cite

Points to the clauses that apply.

Findings cite the scope clauses they rely on, so your team can check them against the contract.

  3. Break down

    Splits the change into tasks.

Claude breaks the work into frontend, backend, database and QA tasks. Cost and timeline come from the rates and risk buffer your agency sets.

  4. Approve

    People sign off.

The project lead approves the draft before the client sees it, and the client approves the change before a deposit invoice is sent.

The arithmetic

One billed change can cover the plan.

Say your agency bills a developer hour at $50 to $100. A client asks to change the checkout flow, and the work takes 15 hours that nobody bills: $750 to $1,500 of revenue is gone. Growth costs $199 a month and covers up to 10 active projects. If it helps you bill one change like that in a month, the plan has paid for itself, with money to spare.

15 unbilled hours at $50 to $100 an hour
$750–$1,500
Growth, per month, for up to 10 active projects
